Professor Dick Sawry, who teaches at the University of Puget Sound, spends an hour each week with students at various Tacoma elementary schools as part of a program. Students learn about a variety of topics from Professor Sawry, as well as other instructors who also participate in the program.

Tacoma students, including those from Lowell, are able to see the King Tut exhibit in Seattle, despite the teacher strike.

Constance S. Lassister is announced as the new principal of Lowell beginning in the 1978-79 school year.
